Esta exposición de Ciuco Gutiérrez no pretende ser una retrospectiva, aunque se muestren fotografías de diferentes épocas. Tampoco pretende ser un resumen ni una reivindicación de su lenguaje. Simplemente reúne algunas piezas selectas de su sentir como artista, entre ellas, El Teléfono rojo, su imagen icónica de mediados de los 80.
El resto de la muestra está formada por obras seleccionadas por el galerista y el propio autor, de una manera orgánica, con una aparente desconexión pero que sumadas tienen todo un sentido y quizás arrojen algo de luz al extraño y críptico discurso del artista cántabro.
The Real Thing is a Mere Suspicion
This exhibition by Ciuco Gutiérrez does not aim to be a retrospective, although photographs from different periods are shown. Nor does it aim to be a summary or seek to reassert his language. Instead, it simply brings together selected pieces representing his artistic vision, among them, El Teléfono rojo (The Red Telephone), his iconic image from the mid 1980s.
The rest of the exhibition comprises works selected by the gallery owner and the artist himself in an organic but seemingly disconnected fashion, but which together make sense and perhaps shed some light on the strange and cryptic discourse of the Cantabrian artist.
